Coming Soon

Hello All,

Life in the UK is the same-as-it-ever-was but now starting to take a turn for the better. Our summer holiday was spent touring England, Scotland and Wales to see some of its wonderful sights. We spent eleven days visisting York, Edinburgh, Chester Zoo and Cardiff; and the many sights and attractions they offered. After a short break with some friends we then went to Alton Towers for a few days of theme park japery. After our tour of the British Isles we thought we might have heard about our visa, but no; there was no news (sigh!).

School started as usual in early September and the weeks passed by but we were growing restless with the progress of our visa. So we phoned our casewroker to see what was going on. He told us that the Adelaide Processing Centre was only just starting to look at visas submitted in October 2007 (sigh, again). What could we do to bring Australia closer to us?

After a few discussions we decided to do something quite daring: come out to Oz in January even if we hadn’t heard about our visa. This would involve me leaving school at the end of autumn term, Bec leaving her work at the same time and coming out to Australia on a 12 month 676 tourist visa. Once out there we would use this visa to do a lot of preparation work so that when our offshore visa came through we could go straight into work mode. So, that is what we are doing. We will be heading down under in the middle of January to begin our adventure (wahoo!) We will spend a night in Hong Kong before going on to Sydney to spend a couple of weeks with friends and enjoy a little summer sun before going on to Geelong (near Melbourne) to establish a home to operate from.

However, just before this entry was published we heard that the Adelaide Processing Centre had just started on visas submitted in November 2007, some 3 months away from our one that was lodged / submitted in January 2008. So it could be that we do actually come out to Oz using on our offshore visa.

Cheerio, for now.

P.S. Sold the house and living in a static home on Marlie Farm.
