Back in S-Town

Hello readers.
This weekend we find ourselves back on familiar stomping ground: Sydney. The place where our Ozzy life began nearly four years ago. However, this year we have been a little remiss with our visits; this weekend being our first since January. So it feels good to be staying with our friends Jayne and Ronnie in Darling Harbour.
Apart from getting to see our good friends we also had to get an outfit for our daughter’s Year 6 graduation ceremony. Her primary schooling has come to an end (Ozzy schooling system a bit different to English one) and to celebrate this her school puts on a ceremony to honour the graduating students. Although very American in nature it is a positive way to say goodbye to the primary years of schooling.
The destination for the frock hunt was Westfield at Bondi Junction which tied in nicely with where we had planned to go beforehand: Bondi itself (yep, thee Bondi). The reason? To take a walk along a coastline pathway that had been adorned with a myriad of public art.
It was a beautiful way to spend a couple of hours. The sun shone, the sky was blue, the sea was turquoise, queues were stood in, discussions were had, judgements were batted about, whales were spotted, ice-creams melted, tans were topped up, photos were taken and the art was inspirational, contemporary and thought provoking; as it should be. Some of the pictures with this post give you a flavour of what we saw.
Once our walk had come to its natural conclusion the frock hunt began, but that’s another story.
Bye for now everyone.

Just Another Sunny Day

Hi readers.
I thought I’d add another small post to blog about an ordinary day over here in upside-down-land.
With spring firmly wrapped around Australia the weather is truly all over the show. Rain, wind, hail and sunshine make regular appearances with the latter being today’s (Sunday) guest of honour.
So, with blue skies above us, we headed to Geelong’s waterfront to meet up with friends, have a go on the city’s famous carousel and grab a spot of lunch. Suffice to say our destination was busy but never crowded. The water was just as busy as the shoreline, with tourists boats coming-and-going, helicopters and sea-planes ascending and descending into the heavens and personal yachts gently touring the beautiful bay. Truly a marvellous atmosphere, and a truly normal Sunday in Geelong.
Enjoy the pictures and we hope your Sunday is equally as ordinary as ours.
Bye For Now.

Nothing to See Here, Move Along

Actually, the title for this entry isn’t strictly true, there is something to see: a small update. So, just like a prostitute with her last customer, let’s get straight to it.
Life over in Oz has been ticking along beautifully all bar a plan to move to Perth in Western Australia. In fact, the plan came within a couple of weeks of being put into action but, as life often does, it deals you a few extra cards to add to your poker hand to help you see that, actually, things are pretty good already. Bec did go on a recky to WA for a week to see what it cooked up like, but she came back fairly neutral about it all and said it didn’t offer that much more than where we are at the moment, and it’s an absolute eternity away from the rest of Australia. Phew! No need for another big move then. We’re not quite sure where this impetus for change came from but we’re glad it didn’t come to fruition.
Filling up the time between this post and our previous one we have followed whales along the Great Ocean Road, bought furniture, built furniture (without my trusty hammer), decorated, put up shelves, walked our dogs, drank coffee, dined out, watched movies and planned some trips. Not much out of the ordinary really, but Oz is still a wonderful place to do ordinary.
On the horizon we have got a few trips to Sydney to enjoy, possibly one to Canberra, some visitors and a daughter going to high school (and it’s the one she worked hard to get into). I dare so they’ll also be some impromptu experiences chucked in the mix too.
So there you have it, a brief entry keeping you lovely readers abreast of life in Oz.
Keep well and come back soon.
